Where I went to School:
UW Parkside - Bachelor in English
Carthage College - Masters in Education with a concentration in Teacher Leadership Kent State University - Masters in Journalism with a concentration in Journalism Education]
Why did I choose my career:
I started subbing after graduating from college while I was looking for jobs. I had no intention of being of teacher, but I fell in love with it. I knew it was what I wanted to do and I quickly got my teaching certification.
What I get out of teaching my certain subject:
I started teaching yearbook 10 years ago and fell down the journalism rabbit hole. I have become very involved in the scholastic journalism community and serve on the board of directors for the Kettle Moraine Press Association> I strongly believe in student voice. Our students have a story to tell and no one can tell it the way they can. I believe in their First Amendment rights and teaching them how to be responsible journalists.
My favorite thing about teaching:
My favorite thing about teaching is working with my students and seeing the amazing these they accomplish every year. After 21 years in the classroom, I am still amazed by them and love coming to work.
What I do outside of school:
Outside of school I enjoy traveling and reading. I also spend a lot of time listening to podcasts and playing with my white lab, Callie.
